Badsha - The Don is an 2016 Indo-Bangladesh Joint Venture film directed by Baba Yadav and produced by Eskay Movies and Jaaz Multimedia. It is a remake of the 2010 Telugu movie Don Seenu, which starred Ravi Teja.

It provides mindless entertainment but fails to stay with you. Watch it only if you are a Jeet fan.

Badshah, a fan of 'Don' Amitabh Bachchan, leaves home — with just one motive — to become a gangster and be feared by one and all. In order to set the ball rolling, he beats up a Dubai-based businessman Sam's (Mahesh Manjrekar) son and finds his way in Don Tony's (Rajatava Dutta) gang. Tony sends Badshah to woo rival don Johnny's (Ferdous) sister in England.

Remakes in Tollywood are nothing new. Baba Yadav's Badshah the Don, remake of 2010 Telegu hit Don Seenu, is an out and out commercial potboiler with everything on offer — an abundance of action, drama, romance and comic relief. Johnny and Tony and gangsters are at loggerheads and always trying to outdo each other in the world of crime. When Badshah is sent to England to woo Johnny's sister, confusion begins. Action sequences are played up to a great extent and Jeet sleepwalks through them all. He walks and talks the part and is believable as Badshah. Funny punchlines, mostly restricted to Biswanath Basu and Rajatava Dutta, are successful in evoking the audience's laughter. Nusraat, who plays Shreya, does justice to her flamboyant character, that looks and sounds eerily like Pooh, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. She is supported wonderfully by Shraddha Das, who plays her friend Priya. The movie is shot on a huge budget and that shows. The cinematography is commendable and songs are melodious. But it's the screenplay and dialogues that falter and fail to engage the audience's attention. The second half is stretched and will test your patience. All in all, it provides mindless entertainment but fails to stay with you. Watch it only if you are a Jeet fan.
